Asantehemaa’s burial ceremony set for Jan 16-19, 2017

The burial rites of the late queenmother of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem has been scheduled to take place from January, 16-19, next year.

Her body would be laid in state at the Asantehemaa’s palace at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi with the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II expected to sit in state from 11am to 5pm each day to receive mourners.

Nana Afia Kobi who is the biological mother of the Asantehene passed away on November 14, 2016, at her palace aged 111 years.

She was the 13th occupant of the Asantehemaa stool and ruled for 39 years.
