By Elizabeth Nwandu

The League of Patriotic Lawyers has said that the decision of a human rights activist Mr. Femi Falana ,SAN, to drag former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and others to the International Court of Justice, is a move in the right direction.

Briefing newsmen, President of the association, Mallam Abubakar Yesufu urged Falana not to be discouraged by the criticisms trailing his action in some quarters, adding that no better honour could be done to the late Gani Fawehinmi’s memory than to fight against impunity and financial recklessness.

His words: “The League has thrown its weight behind Femi Falana in his attempt to assist in sanitizing the cesspool of corruption that has bedeviled our political space for nearly two decades.

‘’The league commended Falana’s courage to drag the former Madam Okonjo-Iweala before the international court of justice. Those who turned our soldiers to lame duck and soft targets to be preyed upon by the Boko Haram by deliberately refusing to fund or misappropriate funds already appropriated definitely are subjects of international court of justice and proper sanction awaits them when their indictment is eventually unsealed now or in future.”
