Akufo-Addo is a dishonest person – APC Leader

The presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, is a very dishonest person, Leader of the All Peoples’ Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga has said.

Dr. Ayariga said Akufo-Addo’s interview with the BBC showed that he has been misleading Ghanaians about the one-district-one-factory campaign promise.

“He exhibited traits of dishonesty. No wonder he keeps running away from debate,” he told the Spy News Agency in an interview.

Nana Akufo-Addo, as part of plans to industrialise and transform the Ghanaian economy promised to establish a factory in all the 216 districts across the country if elected as President in this year’s election.

The NPP Leader explained that these factories to be set up across the country will, not only, commence the rapid industrialization of the Ghanaian economy, but also, result in the creation of thousands of jobs needed by teaming unemployed youth.

But speaking in an interview with Akrasi Sarpong of BBC, on the one district, one factory mantra, Akufo-Addo explained that the districts will be established by private individuals.

“We will encourage private sector operators to establish the factories in the districts as promised by the party in its manifesto,” he said

He added that the NPP is not seeking to create state enterprises but it will seek private sector interventions to have the factories established.

This explanation forced Dr. Ayariga to state that the NPP leader is being dishonest with Ghanaians about his campaign promises, hence cannot be trusted.
