After 8 years, Gregory Afoko has been found not guilty

An Accra High Court presided over by Justice Afua Merley Wood, a Justice of the Court of Appeal has acquitted Mr. Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangde over the murder of the former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP).

The trial which lasted for Eight(8) years, saw Justice Afia Merley Wood, a Justice of the Court of Appeal summing up the whole trial which lasted for about four hours on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

The seven-member jury panel hearing the murder case involving Gregory Afoko and Asabke Alangde had retired to return their verdict of not guilty on all two.

Afoko and one Asabke Alangdi have been standing trial on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and for allegedly killing the Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Adams Mahama, in 2015.

The two have since their arrest pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them until a ruling on the matter on Thursday.
