A TESTIMONY FROM GOMOA WEST CONSTITUENCY ON THE CONTRIBUTIONS DURING THE 2016 ELECTIONS BY THE “LEE OCRAN” FAMILY

Dear Akatamansonian,

I have been thinking about what might have necessitated the unfortunate attacks on the members of the National Executives Committe#,e of the NDC by a party person and the attempt to make it appear as if the write up was copied from a secret platform, or let me say an exclusive platform. I have tried to figure out any possible motivation for any person to go on that tangent.

Why should any body attempt to attack the party itself by launching a scathing attack on the party leadership? Let’s take the case of Auntie Sati Ocran for instance. This is one woman who was clearly visible in the campaign in the Central Region. She actively supported and campaigned in at least Gomoa West, Ekumfi and Mfantsiman constituencies.
I vividly recount a number is times she joined us in Gomoa West to visit remote communities to campaign for JM and our parliamentary candidate.

To mention just a few, I remember our visit to the meeting of the Adonteng Division of the Akyempim Traditional Council at Antseadze with the Adontenghene himself presiding. I recall also our visit to Gomoa Dago during the inauguration of the Dago Police Station. Our visit to Gomoa Tarkwa on two separate occasions. Our visit to Gomoa Nkran and Waasa and a lot more places. What I personally found encouraging is the desire of the woman to touch base with the party people. Wherever we went Auntie Sati gave out items and physical cash to our people to support them in their campaign especially to offset their bills for keep fit activities and things like that. The women were always happy to have such a person in their mist. She would personally give out Polo shirts and Lacoste branded JM shirts and scarf and flags to the people after speaking with them.

She would come from Accra early in the morning to join our team and she will be with us until dusk when she returned to Accra. We crisscrossed the length and breadth of Gomoa West with Auntie Sati and she never complained about the dust and other discomfort associated with political campaigns especially in Gomoa West. I recall our visit to Mumford New Town and the enthusiasm of the party people. The people didn’t hide their joy of seeing us.

It therefore beats my imagination to see or hear someone giving a different accounts and downplaying the immense support and effort put in by such a noble personality.
