Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has publicly criticized a recent press conference held by Jean Mensah, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana. In a Facebook post, Dr. Omane Boamah dismissed the press conference as “useless,” accusing Mensah of being under the influence of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undermine the NDC’s significant parliamentary majority.
Dr. Omane Boamah’s post asserts that Mensah’s actions are aimed at diluting the NDC’s clear 2/3 majority, but he maintains that the NDC will not back down and will continue to demand accountability. He further emphasized that at constituencies where declarations have not been made, the Electoral Commission must produce the pink sheets showing that the NDC won.
The post also criticizes Mensah for not agreeing to an emergency meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), where the NDC hoped to raise critical questions regarding the election process. Dr. Omane Boamah expressed frustration, accusing Mensah of avoiding the meeting to prevent scrutiny.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Omane Boamah called for vigilance, urging NDC supporters and the public to keep a close watch on the “criminal” actions of the Electoral Commission and the “outgoing NPP administration.”
Dr. Omane Boamah’s use of the hashtag #EAGLEEYES reflects the party’s resolve to ensure election integrity and hold the commission accountable.
