65% of Ghanaians will vote for Mahama if elections were held today, poll reveals

If elections were to be held today, former President John Mahama would have garnered the most votes, according to results of the second wave of the Ghana Election Poll which ran online from July 1 to October.

30% of qualified Ghanaian adult voters out of the weighted sample of 2,055 would vote for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo while 65% would vote for the John Dramani Mahama. Five percent of the respondents would vote for “other candidates”.

In terms of gender, if elections were held today, just over a third of Ghanaian adult males (30%) would vote for Nana Akufo-Addo while a significant 65% of males would vote for John Dramani Mahama. For females, just over a third (33%) would vote for Nana Akufo-Addo, while 61% would vote for John Dramani Mahama.

Young people aged 15 to 24 are likely to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo. However, across age groups, votes for the two leading contenders would be closely fought. Vote for Nana Akufo-Addo appears to wane as age increases while votes for John Dramani Mahama appears flat but wanes off slightly as respondent age increases.
