According to political analyst Nana Piesie Anto, while the election results were shocking, it was not surprising that some top ministers lost their seats in Parliament.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the analyst stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and some of its appointees became arrogant, insensitive, and failed to listen to the public.
He noted that voters were fed up with the government’s and appointees’ lack of accountability.

He was of the view that right from the presidency, those who were at the helm of affairs failed to work in the interest of Ghanaians, but rather, they pursued their personal interests, amassing wealth for themselves and their families.
“Some of the results were unexpected, but not surprising, because the majority of the MPs who lost their seats work for their own selfish interests rather than those of the people who voted for them. They did not work for the country. Some of them became ministers, while others utilised the opportunity to send family members abroad. However, the work they were expected to accomplish for the country was ignored. They didn’t work for the country.
From the presidency to the Members of Parliament, no one did a decent job for the country. They took advantage of the opportunity to amass fortune for themselves and their families.”
He went on to say, “The outcome of the elections has shown that Ghanaian voters have expectations of the leaders they elect into office.” When you are elected to office, you have a responsibility to serve the people. You don’t have to ignore people’s concerns and do what you want. When you do that, you give them no other option but to vote against you.
He also claimed that Vice President Dr. Mahamusu Bawumia abandoned the economy in favour of digitisation, despite the fact that we had a minister in charge of digitisation.
