Johnson Asiedu Nketia claims the party was not informed about the re-collation of election results at Tesano Police Depot, accusing EC officials of illegal activities.
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has stated that the party was not officially informed about the re-collation of election results for some constituencies at the Tesano Police Depot.
Addressing the media on Friday, December 13, 2024, Asiedu Nketia explained that the party’s leadership had no prior discussions with the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the collation and re-collation of parliamentary election results for the outstanding constituencies.
Asiedu Nketia accused the EC officials of engaging in illegal activities and assured that the party would ensure the law is upheld.
“What we are seeing in Police Training Depot of which we are yet to find out what was happening there because that meeting was called without any discussions with us as leadership of the National Democratic Congress. For some of us when were asked by our officials in the constituencies, we told them plainly that we didn’t have any notice about it and we are not involved. In fact, I advised some of them not to appear,” he stated.
The NDC has indicated that it will use legal means to address the matter to avoid any escalation of tension.
The party has since filed for an interlocutory injunction to halt t he re-collation at the Tesano Police Depot.
“We don’t want to engage in anything that will escalate tension so we have proceeded to court to apply injunction to put on hold the process that is happening over there,” he added.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia advised EC officials engaged in the process to desist or face consequences.
