2019 AFCON: Kwesi Appiah forced to tweak squad ahead of Guinea-Bissau clash

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will be forced to alternate his squad ahead of the Black Stars final group game against Guinea-Bissau to be played at the Suez Sports Stadium later today.

Christian Atsu, Thomas Agyepong and Nuhu Adams will not be available for selection in today’s game due to injuries and suspension.

The players to miss today’s game made Ghana’s starting lineup against Benin in the opening match.

Thomas Agyepong was substituted just 20 minutes into the first half against Benin. Atsu is reported to have suffered a hamstring and is been monitored by the medical team. Nuhu Adams will miss the game due to suspension after picking two yellow cards.

Meanwhile, reports coming from the team camp indicates that Joseph Aidoo is likely to make his debut against Guinea-Bissau today in the absence of Nuhu Adams.

John Boye who was suspended for the game against Cameroon is likely to return to his position should the coach pick him for selection.

Finder Sports can also report that Kwesi Appiah will approach the game with his squad dominated by attackers as he searches for his first win of the competition.

Appiah will pick between Caleb Ekuban and Kwabena Owusu to partner Jordan Ayew in attack in today’s game.

General Captain Asamoah Gyan, who made a brief appearance in the game against Cameroon says the Black Stars will qualify out of the group despite going two games without a win in the competition.

“We still have a chance of qualifying out of the group. We had a good game against Cameroon and our focus now is on our next game”, he told the media.

The Black Stars must win at all cost to enhance their chance of making it into the next round.

Ghana is likely to play Nigeria in the Round of 16 should they qualify out of the group and finish second spot in Group F.

The Stars will move to Alexandria for the Round of 16 game should they qualify.
