YOUNG PROFESSIONALS COMMEND PRESIDENT MAHAMA OVER PARDON

Young Professionals for John Mahama and Amissah Arthur wish to take this opportunity to thank His Excellency John Dramani Mahama President of the Republic of Ghana for the remission of sentence given our three brothers; Godwin Ako Gunn, Alistair Tairo Nelson and Salifu Maase alias Mugabe.

We are in no doubt convinced that the action of the president in the wake of vigils and a petition submitted to his office by Ghanaians, coupled with calls from majority of the people of Ghana, is in the right direction.

We are equally elated that the state has taken steps to arrest the arbitrary application of the law which had resulted in a four month custodial sentence on the three with a Ghc10,000 fine.

While not commending the comments by the individuals, we are of the view that the punishment meted out to the three was harsh.

It is in this spirit that we commend the president for his show of prerogative of mercy as enshrined in Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana to grant pardon to the trio.

We wish to reiterate our resolve as a group of young individuals who have chartered career paths to work harder to secure a second term for His Excellency John Dramani and His Excellency Kwasi Amissah Arthur.

Thank you.
