The World Bank is injecting 500 million dollars into agriculture in West Africa under an initiative to achieve food security in the region.
On Monday a meeting opened in Accra at which member countries will share experiences and fashion out strategies to cut back on food shortages and unavailability in a region with one of the world’s highest population growth rates.Ghanapoliticsonline.com
The programme aims to upscale agricultural production in all fifteen member – ECOWAS countries – with roots and tubers, livestock, rice and in some cases drought-tolerant cereals expected to make the greatest contribution to agricultural growth.
