I Won’t Endorse Nana Addo – Barima Sydney

Controversial music star Barima Sydney who composed the NPP’s political campaign song during the 2012 elections, has voiced out that he is not going to endorse, campaign or compose any song for any political party in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to 98 Newspaper reporter Mustapha Inusah, he said that he hasn’t endorsed any political party before but has in the past endorsed Nana Addo and the Late President Mills.

“I endorsed Nana Addo in the previous elections because of his free SHS policy, and also endorsed the Late Prof Mills because of his message, but here in Ghana, most people mistake the act of endorsing a candidate as endorsing a political party” he mourned.

According to Sydney, all he intends to do this year is to officially launch his new movement named “MUTASHI” ahead of the 2016 general elections.GhanaPoliticsonline.com

“All I intend to achieve this year is to help create a new type of thinking that will ensure a massive social change in Ghana. I personally think we’ve had enough of the partisan style of politicking and it’s time to support good policies and innovations rather than follow political parties blindly” he said

He stressed that, his movement will speak against any policy that will not benefit Ghanaians especially the youth and also they wouldn’t be partisan over issues and matters as and when it arises.

Giving details about the movement, he said that, “MUTASHI”, is an Hausa word meaning “let’s arise”, and it’s non political therefore will welcome all Ghanaians on board especially the youth across the country.

“The group was created this year to seek and raise political awareness among the youth, encourage them to seek accountability from political leaders and actively participate in the political space positively through music recordings, social media and rallies.” He added
