It Will Be Difficult To Retain Ablekuma West seat –Says NPP Constituency Chairman

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency Chairman for Ablekuma West, Dominic Ntim is predicting a tough time for the party to retain the Ablekuma West seat following a decision by Theophilus Tettey, a former constituency chairman, to contest as an independent candidate after he pulled out of the party’s primaries held over the weekend.

The sitting Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West constituency, Ursula Owusu Ekuful was re-elected as the party’s 2016 parliamentary candidate.

She pulled 554 votes to beat her only contender, Roni Nicole who managed 317 votes out of the total 876 valid vote cast.

However, the election was boycotted by some members of the party including the constituency chairman accusing the National Executive Council of the party of manipulating the process to favor Ursula Owusu.

A third aspirant tipped to win the election, Theophilus Tettey, pulled out of the election in a protest against a decision by the NPP NEC to use two separate voters register for the election.

Theophilus Tettey has subsequently declared his intention to contest as an independent candidate in the 2016 elections.

Speaking to Radiogold905.com, Dominic Ntim said it will be extremely difficult for the NPP to retain the Ablekuma West seat without the support of Theophilus Tettey

Mwanwhile, Ursula Owusu Ekuful has debunked claims she engineered the compilation of the new voters register that sparked the controversy.

In her victory speech, Madam Ursula Owusu Ekuful appealed to all factions to unite for victory in the November polls.
