Where Is The Remaining Ghc15,000 Chairman Afoko Fought For Us?- NPP Executives Question Akufo-Addo

Some constituency and polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party from Adabokrom, Essiam, Juaboso,Bodi and other constituencies in the Western Region were demanding answers from their party’s twice defeated flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo over when he was going to pay them, the remaining balance on the statutory amount of Ghc25,000 the party’s National Chairman Paul Afoko fought for all constituencies, at the second highest decision making body of the party (National Council) to be given to each of the 275 constituencies, yesterday August 11, 2016.

Sections of the constituency and polling executives from these constituencies expressed disappointment in Akufo-Addo as they thought things were going to change as they ignorantly supported the sacking of the party’s National Chairman Paul Awentami Afoko, General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, and Second Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe from the party albeit over baseless petitions by Nana Akufo-Addo. Demanding that their vote in Tamale counts, One constituency Chairman authored these words in the meeting with Akufo-Addo “We elected Our National Chairman Paul Afoko whom we believe was going to resource those of us at the grassroots level but sadly, you (Akufo-Addo ) sacked him over baseless reasons. We went all the way to Tamale to elect him and it was undemocratic for some few friends of Akufo-Addo to sit somewhere in Accra and subvert the will of the people. Chairman Paul Afoko proved to us that, indeed he came purposely for we those at the grassroots level. We have been neglected for a very long time until the coming of Chairman Paul Afoko and true to his words, he fought for we those at the constituency level to be given Ghc 25,000 each, of which was approved by National Council. So it becomes a statutory obligation on the party to pay us , whether or not there is money, just us our districts demand from government Road Fund, NHIS funds, Getfumd fund, etc.”

Another party executive Kofi gyampo who said was an organiser expressed that “Truth be told; Last year, Chairman Paul Afoko gave each of all the 275 constituencies Ghc 10,000. It is sad that, Chairman Paul Afoko was suspended grudgingly and this prudent action taken by him to resource all constituencies formed part of the reasons why Nana Akufo-Addo sacked him from the party. The party does not belong to one man. Chairman Paul Afoko left behind over Ghc 6 million. Why should Nana Akufo-Addo send us this small amount of Ghc 1,000 for monitoring voter registration exercise? We have a remaining balance of Ghc 15,000 and we demand answers as to when you are going to send them to us because it was agreed by National Council and for a purpose. We have been cowed into silence for a very long time for fear of intimidation. In a democratic party like NPP under a lawyer Akufo-Addo, and you can’t speak your mind because if you do so, his friends will orchestrate and suspend you? Are we building a political party or a family of one man? It is scary where our party is been directed at.”

“Today, Nana Akufo-Addo believe in and has chosen Freddy Blay who was sacked just in 2012 from CPP for causing troubles, over a former National Council member of the NPP like Chairman Paul Afoko,a former Presidential aspirant like Kwabena Agyepong and a former Greater Accra Regional Chairman like Sammy Crabbe? This is not the NPP that we joined in 1992 . Keeping Freddy Blay who has been cited in several corrupt acts in the party especially how he colluded with the National Treasure Abankwa Yeboah to divert over Ghc 7 million of the party’s money into a secret location later known as “The Ecobank Account”, is an indictment to our moral character as a political party. There is no truth within the party and it is sad that, Nana Akufo-Addo is involved directly in any of the absurdity that has brought the party to its knees. If Chairman Paul Afoko who took over a party with Ghc 89 as its cash at bank balance, managed to give all 275 constituencies Ghc 10,000 each , why then should Akufo-Addo who inherited over Ghc 6 million after sacking Chairman Paul Afoko, give all 275 constituencies this sorry amount of Ghc 1,000?” Another party executive Hajia Issah Meimuna querried

Nana Akufo-Addo has been in the Western Region since Wednesday for a five day campaign tour. He has promised each district in the region of getting one factory should he be tried as the next President of Ghana. The constituency and polling station executives from Adabokrom, Essiam, Juaboso, and Bodi constituencies where Nana Akufo-Addo toured yesterday bemoaned against the meagre One thousand Ghana Cedi (Ghc1000) Nana Akufo-Addo gave to them for the purposes of monitoring the just ended Voters Registration Exhibition exercise in their respective constituencies, the creeping levels of apathy within the party, the under resourcing of grassroots and the sad decline of moral standards in the NPP since their National Chairman and General Secretary were sacked from the party by Akufo-Addo and his known friends. They demanded the immediate reinstatement of the party’s National Chairman Paul Afoko and all other suspended party executives. They are also demanding from Akufo-Addo the immediate payment of their statutory amount of Ghc 15,000
