We have paid GHC410,000 of MMT debt – Kofi Adams

National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has stated that the party cannot be blamed for the huge debt owed state transporter, Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL).

He explained that, when officials of MMT contacted them after the December elections, he asked them to bring itemized bill for payment which saw the light of day.

Kofi Adams’ reaction follows a publication by the Daily Guide alleging that MMTL) is reportedly on the heels of the opposition NDC over buses the party rented whilst in government but allegedly failed to pay for the services the company rendered to it.

According to a pro forma invoice issued to the NDC after it had lost the general elections on December 7, last year, a total of GH¢1.921,896.99 was supposed to have been paid to the state transport company by the then governing party.

The pro forma invoice was sent to the party’s headquarters for the attention of the NDC National Organizer, Kofi Adams, who doubled as the Campaign Coordinator of John Dramani Mahama’s campaign team.

The NDC had allegedly hired a total of 506 buses for its luxurious 2016 electioneering campaign.

On Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Kofi Adams maintained that the NDC has not received itemized bill of the supposed debt.

However, he said have paid GH¢410,000 out of the supposed GH¢1.921, 896.99 debt.

Kofi Adams noted that, the last meeting he had with officials of MMT was in February and they promised to bring the itemized bill for payment thus cannot be held responsible if the company is going bankrupt.
