We are determined to equip all hospitals – Lordina Foundation

The Lordina Foundation says it is determined to continue to equip hospitals across the country with the necessary equipment to support quality health care delivery.

This is because it is unacceptable to watch people die just because there are no basic equipment to improve their health.

The First Lady, Lordina Mahama, was speaking at Nkrankwanta in the Dorma West District of Brong Ahafo when she presented medical supplies and hospital equipment to health facilities.

The donations were made possible by Medshare USA, and the Chinese government.

The donation of the medical supplies and equipment is to complement government’s effort at delivering quality health care.

The First Lady noted that the lack of basic health equipment at the hospitals increase the risk of sub-standard health care to the citizenry.

She said the wealth of a nation is reflected in the health of the people, hence, the donation.

The First Lady said health professionals in the delivery of health care to people must do so selflessly.

She asked them to educate community members on practicing safe personal hygiene to prevent them from contracting diseases such as cholera.

The donation of the medical supplies was greeted with joy from the health professionals and the Community at large.

The Nkrankwata District Director of Health, Mrs Veronica Asamoah Torto was grateful for the gesture.

In a welcome address, the Chief of Amasu Dormaa, Barima Dei Kusi Gyaba thanked the First Lady and government for the development projects in the District such as Schools, markets, streets lights and good roads.

He however appealed to government to open the border between Nkrankwanta and Cote d’Ivoire as commercial activities across the border helps generate revenue for Nkrankwanta which is the capital of the Dormaa West District located in the western part of the Brong Ahafo.

Apart from trade, the proximity of the District to Cote d’Ivoire promotes socio-cultural exchanges between the District and the Akan people living in Cote d’Ivoire.

Reacting to the appeal, the Deputy Minister of Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah said the issue is being addressed.
