Voters’ register: LMVC to join suit against EC

Lawyers for the pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) are expected to file a motion in court to join the suit for a compilation of a new voter’s register.

The Electoral Commission rejected an earlier request for a new voter’s register based on the recommendations of a five member panel tasked to assess all such requests and concerns raised against the register by mainly, members of the opposition New Patriotic Party.

The pressure group wants the Supreme Court to compel the EC to compile a new register for the November elections.

The Convener of the Alliance, David Asante told Starr News the EC should be prepared for more protests if it does not rescind its decision.

“If this is the position of the EC, Let My Vote Count Alliance will also come out with our position supported by majority of Ghanaians. The committee and the EC’s position is bogus and we will seek redress. We have every right as citizens to seek redress and let nobody take us back,” he warned.
