The workers of the VIP Transport Services have prevented the staff and management of the State Transport Corporation, (STC) from operating at the Asafo bus terminal in the Ashanti Region.

He explained that they acquired a part of the bus terminal from the Ghana Private Roads and Transport Union, (GPRTU) to move their operations from Adum to the Asafo terminal.

He added that due to the standoff they have postponed the inauguration of the new terminal indefinitely.
However, the Director of Finance for GPRTU Professor Lookman Owusu Ansah, said they are only preventing the STC from assessing the yard because they did not go through the right procedure in acquiring the space.

He added that they do not fear the competition STC will bring on board. He said the state company did not have what it takes to compete with them.
He reiterated that VIP will not allow STC operate from the Asafo terminal until the bus operators of the Asafo terminal agree to allow them to operate from the station.
