After a successful surgery on his left eye at the 37 Military Hospital, the young man who suffered the police brutality the most during the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) demonstration has noted that – “the blood I shed was for Ghana.”
Justice Adzakumah is motivated by the Ghana National Pledge which says – “I pledge myself to the service of Ghana with all my strength and with all my heart. I promise to hold in high esteem. Our heritage, won for us through the blood and toil of our fathers; and I pledge myself in all things to uphold and defend the good name of Ghana. So help me God.”
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Justice heroically noted that despite losing his left eye, he still roots for a new voters’ register.
“I don’t really care about my eyes. That was unfortunate but it happened for a reason. My position on the voters’ register still remains. We want a new voter’s register before 2016 election,” he told host Kwasi Aboagye.
Riot control police fired tears gas, sprayed water cannons and mercilessly beat some demonstrators after the police accused them of trying to veer off their approved root during their protest.
President John Dramani Mahama has described as regrettable and unfortunate the rough treatment suffered by the demonstrators who took part in last Wednesday’s demonstration organised by the Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) and its allied pressure groups in Accra.
The protest was aimed at putting pressure on the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voter register for the 2016 elections.
