In all 65 out of the 68 aspirants who duly filled their nominations were vetted in accordance with the National Constitution, the NDC Constitution and the party’s electoral guidelines issued by NEC. The three (3) who sought permission from the Committee are Hon Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, Hon Cassiel Ato Forson and Mr James Joe Quayson Jnr. They will be duly vetted at a later date since they are currently not in the Country. It is heartwarming to report that after a lot of due diligence, the Committee cleared 58 out 65 aspirants who appeared before them. The following were duly disqualified for various reasons: Lawyer Darko of Upper Denkyira West, Madam Doreen Ewuraba Mansa Manieson of KEEA and Mr Kweku Bortsie Ghartey of Effutu. Whiles the two accepted the decision of the vetting committee and pledged their support to work hard for the party, Mr Ghartey on the other hand, has appealed against his disqualification and is pleading for clemency.
Three (3) other aspirants had their approval or otherwise deferred till Monday-28/09/2015. They know what they have to do before they are cleared to contest. They are Lawyer Kanga Kerse and Rev Quansah-all of Awutu/Senya East and Mr J. E. Adams of Gomoa Central. Meanwhile, Mr Kweku Ansrow of AAK decided to step down after he was vetted and cleared to contest.
Balloting for positions on the ballot paper was also done. Truly, the caliber of persons who were approved to contest, their personality appeal, JMs Transformational Agenda, evidence of the Better Ghana Agenda in CR and shape of the NDC in CR will make it very easy to maintain our 16 parliamentary seats whiles recapturing the 7 parliamentary seats from the acidic NPP.
We congratulate all who participated in the vetting process and appeal to all once again to continue adhering to the guidelines to ensure very successful parliamentary primaries come Nov 7th. God bless you all.
