Veep Amissah-Arthur Urges Chiefs To Use Festivals For Development

President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has charged traditional authorities not to only use festivals for merry-making but also take stock of the past and to look into the future for social and economic progress of their communities and the country as a whole.

He said for them to be able to realise these, it will require quality leadership of humility, perseverance and great vision.

Speaking at the Ahobaa Kese of the chiefs and people of Abeadze Dominase in the Central Region, and the 20thanniversary of the enstoolment of Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi, Mr. Amissah-Arthur asked the chiefs to always ensure that there is peace and stability in their areas in order to engender development.

The Vice President called for a campaign of issues and not invectives that seek to destroy people’s reputation.

This, he said, will enable the electorate to select leaders who are capable of addressing their needs and ensuring peace, stability and development of the country.

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi was enstooled at Abeadze Dominase as the Paramount Chief of the Abeadze Dominase Traditional Area in 1996.

He is currently the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs and a former member of the Council of State.

Under his reign, Abeadze Dominase has seen a lot of infrastructure development including educational, health and road infrastructure.

The town emerged the overall best school in last year’s BECE in the Central Region.

In view of this, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi, has established the Abeadze State College to enable pupils from the town and its surrounding communities to have access to secondary education.

He has also built a community centre for social activities.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur together with Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi, inaugurated both facilities.

The Vice President asked traditional authorities to emulate the good example of Daasebre and other development oriented chiefs to complement government efforts in spreading out development across the country.

On this year’s elections, Vice President Amissah-Arthur called on all the political players to competitively campaign but ensure that it is done in a decorous manner to safeguard the country’s peace, stability and development.

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi described President Mahama as a man of honour for fulfilling the campaign promises he made to the chiefs and people of Abeadze Dominase in 2013.

He appealed to government to rehabilitate the Mankessim to Abeadze Dominase portions of the roads that have deteriorated.

Also, Abeadze Dominase-Sunkwaa to Ajumako road.

These roads he said play a key role in the transportation of farm produce and people to and from the major marketing centres.

Since the Ahobaa Kese was added to the national festivals by the Ghana Tourism Authority to attract tourists, this has boosted tourism in Abeadze Dominase.

Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi, therefore, appealed to the Ghana Tourism Authority to add the area to the PANAFEST program.

Chiefs and queen mothers from other traditional areas graced the occasion.
