Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has inaugurated an ultra-modern office complex of the Bosome Freho District Assembly and another office complex for the District Education Directorate all in Asiwa in the Ashanti Region.
The two offices were constructed through the assembly’s own resources.
He reminded Ghanaians of the need to rekindle the spirit of community self-help to support government efforts in the development of communities.
He said government will continue to fully support communities that take the initiative to develop their areas. Vice President Amissa-Arthur said this at a durbar to inaugurate the two facilities.
The Bosome Freho District was created in 2007 out of the Amansie East District.
It started operation from the Community Information Centre, which could only accommodate the central administration.
All other departments operated from rented premises. On April 13, 2011, late President John Evans Atta Mills on his Ashanti Regional tour cut the sod for the commencement of the assembly’s office complex.
It has 41 offices, an assembly hall, a conference hall and a ramp for the physically challenge.
The District Education Office project on the other hand begun in 2013 and it has 21 offices, a conference hall and computer laboratory.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur reiterated the need for Ghanaians to renew the mandate of President Mahama for another four years.
This is because the numerous development projects being undertaken by the NDC government under President Mahama run the risk of being abandoned as President Kufuor did from 2001 to 2008.
He said because the NDC is a development oriented party, when it assumed office in 2009, almost all the development projects begun by the NPP administration were continued and completed.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur said the District Assemblies Common Fund is not the only panacea for the development challenges that confront the assemblies.
He therefore encouraged members in the communities to mobilise their human, financial and material resources to support the development of their communities.
The Kokofuhene, Barima Ofe Akwasi Okogyeasuo, was full of praise for the DCE, Kwame Adarkwa and the NDC government for transforming Bosome Freho in about eight years.
He therefore appealed to President Mahama to maintain him as the DCE to enable him to continue with the transformation taking place in his area.
He reiterated the need for self-help to complement government government’s development efforts.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur introduced Mr. Adarkwa to the chiefs and the people of Bosome Freho as NDC’s parliamentary candidate and appealed to them to vote for him and President Mahama so that together they bring more development to the area.
