Two arrested for smuggling explosives

Two people have been arrested in the Eastern region for attempting to smuggle explosives.

The suspects, Ransford Akwasi Nuamah, 40, and Kwabena Asare, 31, were arrested by the Suhum Police Friday.

They were allegedly smuggling the products, which included Ammonium nitrate to Kumasi in the Ashanti region, Police have said.

Police interrogation uncovered that the explosives were stolen from the Peabo quarry site which has been condoned off following a recent explosion there which killed one person and injured 27 others.

Deputy Eastern regional Police Public Relations officer Sgt. Gideon Boateng who confirmed the incident told Starr News the suspects are being detained at the Nsawam Police station.

Meanwhile, the Police have declared the alleged owner of the explosive at the quarry site Adams Kofi Yeboah wanted.
