There would be a coup d’état in Ghana in 2016

There would be a coup d’état in Ghana which would lead to the disruption of the country’s electoral calendar in the course of this year.

This was contained in a tall list of prophecies by the founder and leader of Glorious Word and Power Ministry, Isaac Owusu Bempah.

“I saw a very large dragon with three heads, it also had heads at its tail, then I saw the dragon touching its neck with its tail, and blood was oozing from the neck…and God explained to me that that was a sign of coup coming to Ghana in the course of the year 2016…,” he said on Adom FM’s Evening News on Saturday.

Asked to explain what the dragon meant, the controversial man of God inferred that the ruling government would rise against itself in the run up to the 2016 general elections.

This, he said, is to cause Ghanaians and the international community to have sympathy on the government of the day so it would be allowed to stay in power.

“Ghana’s election date is also likely to be postponed as well to give time for the government to stay in power…so Ghanaians must pray against this”.

According to him, the government would cause this to happen since ‘after its calculations, it would come to the realization that it would lose the elections if it is held.’

Rev Owusu Bempah further predicted that the opposition leader, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in spite of the internal wrangling within the NPP ‘holds the keys to the elections.

He however warned that the twice defeated candidate of the party is likely to ‘go into his grave with the key’ as certain persons in his political party are seeking to assassinate him.

“There would be fire and brimstone in the run up to the 2016 elections, but we can pray to avert it and cease it from happening entirely, God would do it…,” he said.

Ghana experienced its first coup d’état in 1966 when it’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown on 24th February.

Dr. Kofi Abrefah Busia who was elected in the 1969 elections was also ousted from power in 1972 by an I.K Acheampong led military junta which also suffered in a palace coup in 1978 led by FWK Akuffo.

The mother of all coups happened on June 4th, 1979 when Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings overthrew FWK Akufo; ruled for a brief period, before handing over power to constitutionally elected Dr. Hilla Limann administration.

On 31st December, 1981, Flt Lt Rawlings again overthrew the People’s National Party (PNP) government and ruled until transition to constitutional rule in 1992.

The country has not experienced any military intervention since the 1992 constitution came into being and has organized six (6) successful elections which have brought four persons as Presidents.

However, Ghana’s 24 years of constitutional rule, he said, is likely to be truncated this year because of the decision of the Mahama-led administration to remain in power by all means
