Technical Universities bill put before Parliament

The Bill to give legal backing to the conversion of Polytechnics to Technical universities is being considered by Parliament.

The Technical Universities Bill 2016 will ensure that the technical universities focus on technical, engineering and vocational courses.

Presenting a report of the Education Committee for the second reading of the Bill, the Chairman of the Committee, Mathias Puozaa, said the establishment of Technical Universities, will redirect the focus of education towards vocational skills development and applied science and technology which are very critical for national development.
