STRANEK MAKES A CLARION CALL ON SPREADING THE TENTACLES OF PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE FORUMS; GIVE NCCE A CHANCE!

Upon microscopic observation on the discussion going on
some days now with regards to Presidential debate brouhaha, we call on all stakeholders and policy makers to consider the spreading of the tentacles of presidential debate forums and in the larger sense giving National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) a chance.

Giving the NCCE a chance to host the presidential debate will not be inconsistent with her functions stipulated in the 1992 Constitution and the assumed monopoly enjoyed by Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) will be deflated as NCCE is capable enough to host the presidential debate.
We well appreciate the strides IEA has brought to bear so far as the democratic dispensation leading to national development is concerned.

However, we believe it is time to give NCCE a chance as we believe public institutions in Ghana must be made to function fully which in a way will strengthen them.
We believe that NCCE taking the baton to host the presidential debate will urge them to open the flood gates for all political parties qualified per the modalities of Electoral Commission to participate in the debate rather than a select few which is unconstitutional and this will as well be not termed as abuse of rights of presidential candidates.

Furthermore, IEA does not have the locus standi to display such a misconduct by whipping the NCCE in line as NCCE is equally capable and qualified to perform exactly what IEA does.

We take this opportunity to make a clarion call to all stakeholders and policy makers to take a second look at NCCE, believe in her and give her a chance to host the presidential debate. This will go a long way to kill the monopoly and unfairness which is emanating as well as prevent whimsical cum capricious modus operandi.

We cannot exclude Ghanaians in joining with once voice and one belief in our public institutions such as NCCE to take the mantle to host the presidential debate for this year as we believe Ghanaians are the fulcrum of the democratic dispensation and contemporary politics.
We are all involved in building our Motherland Ghana.
