Statement By The Real National Chairman of NPP Paul Afoko on the Occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr

July 6, 2016

On this occasion of  Eid al-Fitr, I join with Muslims in the New Patriotic Party and across Ghana to celebrate the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.

During the prescribed days of Ramadan, Muslims have fasted from sunrise to sundown, and have taken the opportunity to engage in deep spiritual reflection. Now, they will gather with friends and family to share in the Feast of Fast-Breaking.

Eid ul-Fitr is an important Islamic holiday for the Muslim community in Ghana. It is an occasion for rejoicing and an opportunity for Muslims to gather in joy, as well as in remembrance of those less fortunate including those afflicted by poverty, hunger, conflict and disease; by collecting and sharing Zakat-ul-fitr to enable them to share in the joy of this occasion.

It is also a Day of Graduation for all those who have faithfully observed the commands of God Almighty, and an opportunity for all of us to rededicate ourselves, not only to achieving spiritual growth, but also to the cause of peace between all people of the earth. Ramadan reminds us that, our  society should be an example of peaceful co-existence and cooperation, of mutual benefit and human concern.

To my fellow New Patriotic Party members and Ghanaians,  let us strive to create an inner environment of peace and faith, of tranquility, non-violence, and security. When that happens, then we can hope to find solidarity and to create cooperation by supporting one another, standing by one another in what is good and right and needed for success, growth, and sustainability. The 2016 General Elections is just around the corner; and in as much as we dedicate ourselves and pray success for the New Patriotic Party , let us also continue to pray fervently for peace before , during and after the elections.

As the appearance of the new moon brings to a close the holy month of Ramadan, I profoundly extend to all our Muslims a blessed celebration of the Eid ul-Fitr and good health with prosperity in the years ahead.

May peace be with you and your families.

Eid Mubarrak! !!!

……Signed……..
