‘Some world powers want Mahama to lose 2016’

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has claimed that certain international actors are against the Mahama administration.

These forces within the comity of nations, he announced on radio Tuesday, are working to ensure President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lose the 2016 elections.

“…We must beware that a certain section of the international community are not interested in continuity, what they are looking for is a regime change so that continuously there would be a cycle of regime change so that we would continue depending on them…,” he claimed on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem.’

The ‘certain section of the international community’ which he refused to name, he said are using all forms of covert and overt means to ensure the government loses favour in the eyes of the Ghanaian electorates so ‘they have the NPP in power’.

According to him, the international state and non-state actors would benefit more when the NPP, which is seen as a pro-market party comes to power.

The NPP, he added, is drawing its strength from these unnamed international forces and these persons have been pushing them to cause disaffection for the ruling party in an effort to win political power.

“There is a certain section of the international community that is supporting the regime change of the NPP, it is a known fact but the good people of Ghana would vote and not the international community…and we believe by voting time, the good people of Ghana would give President Mahama the nod again,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians not to vote the NPP which is ‘drawing its energy from a certain International community’ arguing that an Akufo Addo-led government would only reinvent the wheel and take the country back economically.

When asked if the NDC party upon assumption of power in 2009 re-invented the wheel hence the country’s current economic crisis, he responded in the negative citing the NDC continuing with the Bui Dam project and completing it as an example.

He, however, claimed that Ghana would have been better off in the energy sector if the erstwhile Kufuor administration had continued with the energy policy of the Rawlings administration.

To this end, Koku promised the ‘certain international community’ that as far as the people of Ghana are concerned, they would prefer to go into 2016 and come out with the assurance of going forward instead of retrogressing.
