The disqualification of 14 presidential aspirants by the Electoral Commission (EC) has provoked mixed reaction as social media platforms went into meltdown moments after the news broke.

Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei, today announced that 14 out of the 17 presidential aspirants that submitted their applications failed to meet the necessary requirements that make them eligible to contest.

The verdict on PPP flag bearer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom which came as a shock to many Ghanaians literally set Twitter on fire.

Mrs. Osei relaying EC’s reason to disqualify the flag bearers said, “those disqualified failed to meet the necessary requirements that makes them eligible to contest”.

While many have gone ahead to condemned the EC Chairperson on different social media platforms, others have applauded her for ‘cleansing’ the system.

GhanaWeb monitored reactions of Ghanaians on Twitter, and bring you their views.

@KafuiDey a massive shame for the election discourse to have lost Nduom. I think he may have been a few mid-class people’s protest vote.
