Shatta Movement For JDM Was Created On My Behalf – Former Minister Aquinas Tawiah Quansah

Former Central Regional Minister, Mr. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah has disclosed in an interview with GhanaPoliticsonline.com, that Shatta Movement for JDM – a new political movement set to project the Goodwill of President Mahama, was created for him but not for self-acclaimed King of dancehall, Shatta Wale.

The group, Shatta Movement for JDM, over the weekend, created buzz on social media among entertainment buffs – as many kept asking if it belongs to dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, or the name of the movement is an endorsement of Mahama of a sort by Shatta Wale who also has a huge fan-base of die-hard followers by the name Shatta Movement.

The debate prompted management of Shatta Wale to release a statement to clarify the air, thus, Shatta Wale and his Shatta Movement has nothing to do with Shatta Movement for JDM and that they will not endorse any political party.

In a chat with the former Minister whose nickname among people within the NDC is Shatta 1, he said the group was created on his behalf.

He maintains that when anyone mentions Shatta among the NDC family, the first name that comes to mind is he the former minister.

According to him, “I didn’t adopt my Shatta 1 because of Shatta Wale. It has been my secondary school nickname till date and that’s what most of the people within Central region calls me.” Hence, the youth decided to use that name for a movement on his behalf which he sees nothing wrong and so has endorsed it.

“It’s a group created to galvanize votes for JDM. It’s not a group created by the youth on behalf of the dance hall musician or to take advantage of the dance hall musician. Ghanaians should not affiliate it to the musician” he said.

Though banners and stickers have already been made for the group, he advised the executives OF THE group to change the name from Shatta Movement for JDM to Shatta 1 for JDM – to forestall any future clashes or confusion between the group and fans of Shatta Wale.
