Samia Nkrumah displaying ‘immaturity’ – Kabila

Director of Elections for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh aka Kabila, has described Samia Nkrumah’s comments that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) sponsored Ivor Greenstreet to become the flagbearer of the CPP as “needless” and “unwarranted”.

“…The influence of the NDC was there for all to see. Absolutely, they were in full charge. The monies came from them, it’s no secret. Everybody knows…the monies that came to our delegates did not come from the CPP’s coffers or from an individual…,” Ms Nkrumah told Ekow Mensah-Shalders on Class91.3fm’s Executive Breakfast Show Thursday March 10.

The comment has attracted sharp criticism from some members of her party including Chairman Professor Edmund Delle, who has said he would not tolerate indiscipline from Samia in the party.

Mr Bomfeh said such comments would make it difficult for the daughter of Ghana’s first president to approach the same party for endorsement to contest the parliamentary elections on the party’s ticket.

He told Class News: “It’s a shame that this is coming from no mean a person than the immediate past chairperson of the party.”

“When I heard this interview she granted you, I called her and I think she regrets it. She admitted that it was unwarranted. It was needless, she has no basis and she ought not to have done that.

“She has done that in the past, she was spoken to, so, for me, it’s just an exhibition of immaturity on her part, indiscretion and if you like, the lack of capacity to deal with defeat and that is not a good show for someone, who is aspiring to even represent the party again in parliament.

“At the end of the day, she must know… does she still expect the party to endorse her membership to contest as a Member of Parliament?

“If you insult everybody in the party, undermine the party’s credibility, call the party names, and if you like impugn the integrity of the party, why then do you want to run on the ticket of that same party? It’s a shame that this is coming from her.”
