Samuel George and Nii Amasah Namoale are still members and Parliamentary candidates of the ruling National Democratic Congress in spite of their announced suspension by the Greater Accra regional branch of the party, deputy general secretary of the NDC Koku Anyidoho has stated.
The Greater Accra branch of the NDC in a statement Thursday announced the suspension of the Ningo-Prampram and La Dadekotopon candidates for gross misconduct. The two, according to the regional chapter of the umbrella family, breached regulations that warn candidates against disrespecting party executives.
The two stand accused of making wild allegations against their executives during the primaries which were held in November.
But speaking to Nii Arday Clegg Friday, Mr. Anyidoho said the regional branch failed to seek approval of their decision from the national executives of the party.
“What they did is constitutional but it has not been ratified by national. They are still parliamentary aspirants, and they are still party members.
“The Greater Accra office, you could say, shot themselves in the foot by not waiting for ratification of the decision by the national office,” the former presidential spokesperson stated.
