Rex Omar hails NDC Running Mate selection as “Greatest thing that has happened in Ghana”

CHAIRMAN OF THE GHANA MUSIC RIGHTS ORGANIZATION (GHAMRO), REX OMAR, BELIEVES THAT THE SELECTION OF PROF. NAANA JANE OPOKU AGYEMANG AS THE RUNNING MATE TO FLAGBEARER OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS, JOHN MAHAMA, IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR WOMEN TO BE COUNTED AND CONTRIBUTE MORE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATION.

Former President John Dramani Mahama, on Monday July 6, named Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang as his running mate for the 2020 elections.

This move has received international acclaim. Now here in Ghana, eventhough gender advocates have hailed the decision,  the governing NPP has started downplaying the impact of her presence on the ticket in the upcoming elections with some disparaging comments coming from Majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as chairman Wontumi!
In an interview with MzGee, on Showbiz927 Rex Omar, a known NDC sympathizer, described the selection as the greatest thing to happen in Ghana’s political sphere.

“I think it is the greatest thing that has happened in Ghana, especially concerning the two big political parties. This is an opportunity for at least our mothers and the Ghanaian woman to be recognized to show her contribution to decision making for national development. So I’m very happy because it’s taken a long time because of our culture. So this is an opportunity for women to be counted and also push our developmental agenda.”

Rex Omar also disclosed that he was already working on a song for the NDC.
According to him, he was only waiting for the party to confirm the former Education Minister as the running mate for him to proceed with the song.
