Ras Mubarak denies defection of NDC members to NPP

The NDC Parliamentary nominee for Kumbungu constituency in the Northern Region has denied media reports that over 800 members of the NDC have defected to the opposition NPP.
In a Facebook post on his timeline, Ras Mubarak described the reports as “rubbish” and argued that the overall population of the three communities from where the alleged defectors reside is a little above 1000 including children.

“No member of NDC has defected to NPP in Kumbungu as reported.”
“None of the people they paraded as having defected is a branch executive or card bearing member of the NDC,” he added.

Mubarak accused the NPP in the constituency of fuelling this untruth because the party’s parliamentary nominee “is struggling to fly”.

“Just like the NPP at the National level, their party is in disarray in Kumbungu with their candidate on one side and half the executives on another. You can’t report propaganda as fact in a veiled attempt to get support for candidate who can’t fly. I wish to assure our supporters we would deliver the Kumbungu seat to the NDC.”

According to Accra-based Citi FM over 800 NDC members have defected to the opposition NPP. The defectors said the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has deceived and neglected us for too long. This is the reason given by over 800 NDC members who defected to the opposition NPP in the Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region.
A spokesperson for the defectors Mahama Seidu told Accra-based Citi FM that they defected because they have not seen any improvement in their lives even though they have been voting for the NDC since 1992.
