President John Dramni Mahama has expressed his deepest condolence to the family of slain New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, JB Danquah whose “horrific” death still sends shivers down the spine of Ghanaian.
Addressing the August house in his last State of Nation address in his First term, the president paid glowing tribute to the former legislature.

“Mr Speaker, when we lose someone especially someone who is in the prime of his or her life. We mourn much more than what the person was to us. We also mourn the possibility of what the person might have been or could have been accomplished.
“Mr. Speaking every year since the good people of Ghana elected me as president, I have come to this august house in fulfillment of the article 67 of the constitution of the republic to address the nation.
This house is my political house and all members are my brothers and sisters. We stood on different sides and help out positions we argued points and pointed out what is the error in the other side of thinking. But as I recalled at the end of the day we were more than worthy opponents. We recognize ourselves as family.
“Mr. Speaker, it pains me today to see the vacant seat of our brother, my friend Hon JB Danquah Adu,” President Mahama said.
In the early hours of Tuesday 9 February, Hon J.B Danquah Adu Jnr was murdered at his Shiashie residence in Accra – one person has been arrested in connection with his death.
The alleged suspect is believed to have stabbed the lawmaker in a struggle after stealing ‘three phones’ from his house.
President Mahama, still shocked by the late MP’s death, described him as a fine “gentleman” – “He [JB] was aged 50 years when brutally murdered. He was a gentleman who walked away from every conversation with a smile.
“…He loved Ghana and devotion shown through in everything he did especially in his constituency where he is popular and very well regarded”
“Mr Speaker, JB’s absence in this august house and constituency is seen and felt. We’ve lost a member of our family and Ghana has lost a true son who will no doubt could contribute greatly to the betterment of our nation” he added.
He thus called on the House to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the deceased and the over 60 passengers on an MMT bus, who perished in a gory accident on the Kintampo/Tamale road last week.
