President John Mahama has spoken for the first time since the Electoral Commission (EC) declared the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo winner of the 2016 presidential elections assuring a smooth transition to the next administration.
Addressing the nation after the EC’s declaration on Friday evening, President Mahama stated that since he is committed to the unity and stability of Ghana he has to obey the will of the people.
“It is precisely on account of my belief in ghana and its future that notwithstanding the irregularities associated with this election I’ve decided at this stage to congratulate the president-elect”.
According to him, each electoral victory belongs to the people and the true winner of any election is always Ghana.
“I’ll work to ensure a smooth transition to the incoming administration”, he assured
