President Mahama opens Kejetia market today

President John Mahama will today Monday December 5, 2016, commission the Kejetia Market which has been touted as the largest Market in West-African sub-region.

It is expected that the market when commissioned will also serve other Nationals, considering the closeness of Kumasi to other neighbouring countries.

The US$298 million Kejetia market project, which is in three phases comes with convenient parking area for vehicles, modern bus terminal, fire station, clinic, police station, crèche, community facilities with modern security features, modern sewerage and sanitation facility for the users of the market.

Earlier in the year, the Minister for local Government and rural development noted that “when this market is completed, the situation where traders lose their money and belongings to fire at the Central Market would be left to the historians, as the new market is being constructed in a way that would prevent fire outbreaks.”
