GBC’S Augustus Acquaye reports that, the Sonon-Asogli Power Plant is a private sector led power generation plant operated by Shenzen Energy of China.
Commissioning the first unit of the project, President Mahama said Ghana is now in a sure footing to be an energy exporter.
The chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, CPPCC, Yu Zhengsheng said the plant is a fruit of china Ghana economic relations. He said China will forever be Africa’s ally in economic growth.
The first unit of the phase two project officially came on stream on the national grid on February 16 this year.
