President Mahama hints of converting MASLOC into Micro Bank

Government says it has plans to turn the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) into a Micro Bank to make it services readily available to the public.

President John Mahama, said this when he presented three hundred and fifty vehicles to the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU) in Accra.

The vehicles consist of ISUZU buses and chervolet saloon cars for taxi purposes.

Government through MASLOC guaranteed the purchase of the vehicles for the largest transport union, GPRTU. They are to be acquired on hire purchase.

Few weeks ago, President Mahama gave the Intercity STC a new lease of life when it proceed fifty Scania buses to put the company back into business with the recently launched Bus Rapid Transit System.

President Mahama said government needs the private sector as a true partner in development while urging them to maintain regular servicing of the vehicles.

The President encouraged the drivers to remain committed to the repayment schedule.
