President Mahama is handsome – Yamin

The Former Deputy Minister of the Ashanti Region Joseph Yamin has envisaged that the President John Dramani Mahama will win this year’s elections based on his ‘charisma and handsomeness’.

According to him, beauty also plays a major role in winning elections apart from infrastructural developments and that president Mahama will amass votes that will blow the minds of Ghanaians based on his good looks.

Mr. Yamin added that former President Kufour won elections because he was described as the gentle giant by many, saying he was favoured by the electorate based on his handsomeness.

‘We are winning the elections based on the charisma and handsomeness of the president, we are telling the electorate to vote for such a handsome man, if beauty does not count in elections, why was former president Kufour described by many as gentle giant, what were they trying to portray by calling him that, beauty also plays a role in elections,’ he expressed hope.

Asked if he is implying that the Flagbearer of New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not handsome, he replied ‘I have not mentioned anybody’s name, that is left for the electorate to decide, I am selling my candidate, don’t put words in my mouth’.

Asked how the president will get the 50% plus one votes in the country, he added, ‘you remember, you asked me about my pictures on Facebook if I was in some village, our campaign is not about sitting at National Theater to address party faithfuls, that strategy doesn’t win votes, what generates votes is by getting closer to the people, spending much time, we have trained our young communicators, they now visit the radio/TV stations championing the course that we used to do in 2004/2008. Because equally they can do what we have been doing in studios, some of us are on the ground campaigning, I shouldn’t be telling you about our strategy’.

He stated that most Ghanaians have taken their decision already as to which candidate to vote for, saying they are talking to people who vote based on developments.

‘We are talking to the people who vote based on developments, so the NPP is tickling itself that they will win massively in the region, they are deceiving themselves, election is about going down to the people,’ he said.
