President Mahama Ends “Accounting to the people tour” To Upper East Regio

President John Dramani Mahama, on Tuesday ended his two day accounting to the people tour of the Upper East region with a sod cutting ceremony for work to start on the Chuchuliga-Sandema-Weisi-Nakong road.

The President also inaugurated a water system project for the people of Navrongo and surrounding towns.

President Mahama’s two day accounting to the people tour of the upper east region saw him inaugurate very crucial projects for the people of the area.

He cut sod for work to start on a hundred and eleven kilometre Bolga-Bawku road. The road which links Bolga to Togo and Burkina Faso is riddled with pot holes having adverse effect on trade facilitation.

President Mahama, also inaugurated an expanded water project for Bawku and other towns which are water starved and cut the sod for a three thousand hectare irrigation dam project.

This project has been on the drawing board since the 1970’s. President Mahama’s last day in the region saw another sod cutting ceremony for work to start on the chuchulinga-Sandema- Weisi-Nakong road ( scope of work).

President Mahama, also spoke about why the need to embark on the nationwide tour after his first term as President.

Later the President joined the Chiefs and people of Navrongo to inaugurate a water system.

The project comes as a great source of joy as the facility is extended to communities even beyond Navrongo.

The water system project is by the government of Ghana under the urban water system and financed by the world bank.

The Navrongo township has also benefited from standpipes, boreholes and water reservoirs

The paramount chief of Navrongo Naba Addah, was grateful for the water project and other projects the region has benefited from.

He requested for a vehicle for the Chiefs to help them move around.

Naba Addah, gave President Mahama a new name which is wepia. Wepia means Gods
gift.
