President Mahama ends ‘Accounting to the People Tour’ of Ashanti

President John Mahama, says Ghanaians who have written off the country as a bad case must also study happenings on the global scene as well.

He said Ghana does not operate in isolation and just like other countries, get affected by global uncertainties.

Addressing the clergy at a breakfast meeting in Kumasi, the President emphasised that, it takes collective effort and a spirit of optimism to build a desired nation.

He called on the clergy to even as they intercede for the country to also use the pulpit to instil self-belief in the congregation.Ghanapoliticsonline.com

President Mahama, officially ends his Accounting to the people tour of the Ashanti region.

Three days of President Mahama’s tour of the Ashanti region can be said to be successful, judging from the many projects he inaugurated, inspection of ongoing ones and cutting the sod for new projects.

Traditional leaders the President called on at all the towns visited were extremely grateful for benefitting from the national cake and were hopeful for better days.

In short, one could describe the Presidents reception in the Ashanti region as overwhelming. As he climaxed his tour, he met with the clergy in a breakfast meeting.

Even as he briefed them on critical issues bordering on security, the economy and energy crisis and efforts being made he expressed disappointment at how some Ghanaians have refused to recognise the modest gains made by the country

In an election year, President Mahama called on the clergy to be quick in calling for calm heads when the atmosphere gets heated and political rhetorics are being thrown around.

President Mahama, later inspected work on the formena district hospital in the Adansi north district.

The hospital will have state-of-the art equipment and facilities and capable to expand from a hundred and 20 beds to two hundred bed capacity.

What is worth noting is that, the new Fomena hospital will have Adansi North districts first public owned maternity centre.

Similar hospitals are being built in kumawu, Abetifi, sekondi,somanya, keta, garu tempani among others. The President called on the chief of Adansi.

The chief requested that a road from Adansi leading to Akrokere where the late statesman PV Obeng hails from be constructed and named after him.

He also pleaded that outstanding royalties due Chiefs be paid.

President Mahama, said he has directed the Minister of Lands and Natural resources to take the issue of royalties and sort the Chiefs out.

Later President Mahama made good a major campaign promise to build a stadium for New Edubiase in the Adansi south District.

He presided over a sod cutting ceremony for work to start on a ten thousand seater stadium at a cost of six million Ghana cedis.

The stadium comes with facilities for other sporting disciplines.

President Mahama ended his tour with the inauguration of a girls dormitory for the Bekwai SDA Senior High School.

The school is among the beneficiaries of the school buses that were recently distributed to some second cycle institutions across the country.
