President Mahama Buries Mother Today at Busunu

Hundreds of mourners are expected to join President John Dramani Mahama today, Friday, June 17, at Busunu in the Northern Region, for his late mother’s burial.

President Mahama and family elders will accompany the remains to Busunu for the burial in accordance with Islamic laws.

Adequate security measures have been put in place and people from all walks of life are reported to have already arrived there for the burial.

The late Hajia Abiba Nnaba, died in Accra on Tuesday.

High profile personalities within and outside the country, have consoled the President on his mother’s death.

The IGP John Kudalor also led a delegation from the police service to grieve with President Mahama.

The National Chief Imam, Sheik Nuhu Sharabutu, performed a ceremony in accordance to the Islamic law, which was attended by government officials, leading members of the National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party and other opposition parties as well as scores of sympathisers and party supporters.

Ghana’s main opposition leader, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, founder of the Progressive Peoples Party leader, Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum, former Presidents John Kufuor and Jerry John Rawlings.

Dr. Nduom in a statement said “I wish to express my heartfelt condolence and sympathy to President John Dramani Mahama on the passing of his mother. Mothers are special and it brings great grief to lose them.

May the Almighty console the President and his family; and may He grant his mother eternal rest.”

Nana Akufo-Addo also in a tweet said: “I extend my condolences to @JDMahama and his family on the passing of his mother, Madam Abiba Nnaba. May she rest in perfect peace.”
