President-elect Nana Addo will receive GHC22,809 every month

President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to take home GHC22,809 every month after he is sworn-in as President of the Republic of Ghana come January 7 2017.

According to the Presidential Committee on Emoluments which was set up by President John Mahama in accordance with the constitution of Ghana, all Article 71 office holders are to enjoy a 10% increase in their monthly salary and must be retrospective to cover 2013.

The committee’s report was properly approved by Parliament last week after sequence of closed door meetings.

Per the committee’s report, President Mahama will leave the flagstaff house after January 7 2017 with GH¢22,809 as compared to the non-taxable salary of GH¢15,972 his receives every month.

According to the report, the outgoing President while on retirement will be given other benefits such as state-provided staff not exceeding four (cook, gardener and two security persons), a furnished and up-to-date office and communication equipment.

The report added that, the outgoing president will also have the opportunity to embark on foreign trips with his wife and would be able to use the “presidential jet where available and appropriate.”
