PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO MUST REPLACE HIS INAUGURAL ADDRESS – GOVERNANCE WATCH GH.

It has become important to call on the president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider replacing his inaugural address presented on Saturday 7th January, 2017.

This has become necessary due to the scandal that has greeted the speech attracting international attention.

The situation is embarrassing as so far, records of excerpts of those speeches have been proven to be contained in speeches delivered by President Bill Clinton of the United States, John F. Kennedy of the United States as well as from President Buhari of Nigeria among others with documented video evidence in circulation on social media.

The phenomenon has become embarrassing needing remedy the basis upon which Governance Watch wish to advice the president to consider withdrawing the plagiarised speech and replacing it with a more acceptable and original speech.

For the records, this statement was presented in a formal parliamentary sitting qualifying it as the first ever speech delivered in his official capacity as president of the Republic. This speech has been documented in the Hansard of Parliament thereafter and would therefore be referenced any day for intellectual purposes several years to come.

It stands to reason that once the error has been accepted, the same error cannot be admitted to stay in our official documents but must be caused to be corrected and placed on record.

It is in this spirit that we call on the president elect and the representative house of Parliament to ensure that the space is provided to ensure that the president Akufo-Addo corrects the wrong by reintroducing a speech that can be credited with originality.

Thank you
