General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has concluded that the Presidential Candidate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo can be labelled a violent leader.
According to the NDC Chief Scribe, insofar as the three time Flagbearer of the NPP has failed in his capacity as a leader to openly condemn and rebuke his members who perpetrate violence, he cannot escape the violent tag when people begin to complain.
He believes it will serve in the opposition party’s own interest if the NPP and Dr Bawumia concede their mistakes and act repentant, unlike the unapologetic stance they took when Ghanaians condemned them for their unwarranted ‘all-die-be-die’ mantra.http://ghanapoliticsonline.com
“The NPP should also desist from their obdurate attitude and age-old unrepentant attitude which they showcased when Ghanaians condemned the party for the ‘All-die-be-die’ mantra. If they had shown any form of contriteness in the aftermath of that ‘all-die-be-die’ comment, it would not have been a burden on Nana Akufo-Addo,” he chided.
“When everybody was condemning the NPP, they didn’t listen and even printed a t-shirt and instituted a campaign slogan with the ‘all-die-be-die’ mantra. This unapologetic conduct served to cast a violent garment over the NPP,” he stressed.
He again was of the view that NPP leader rather encourages violence by his loud silence against the act.
“ . . and so those who say Nana Akufo-Addo is violent, may not have evidence of him engaging in the act, but it is such that he does not openly condemn those who do wrong in the party. If the people in the party feel that their violence pleases their leader, they will continue to engage in the act and such a leader will not be exempted when accusations of being violent are thrown at the party,” he emphasised in an interview with Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ Morning Show host, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese.
Touching on Dr Bawumia’s alleged religious imbalance at the Presidency remarks, the NDC General Secretary wondered where in government Traditional religion which founded Ghana before the introduction of Christianity of Islam by the Europeans their position be.
“Before the Quran and Bible were introduced in Ghana, the country belonged to the Traditionalists and so what will be their role in government if we should only have Christian and Muslim balance in the government system?”
“If Bawumia shares the country between Muslims and Christians, our forefathers who formed Ghana and those who still hold on to the traditional belief before the introduction of those religions, what will their positions be in the governance structure?” he quizzed.
