Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan was among Ghanaian players who scored during the weekend as he came off the bench to score in China.

Meanwhile Wakaso Mubarak scored a spectacular goal in Spain’s La Liga while 18-year-old striker Benjamin Tetteh netted his second goal of the season Belgium.

Emmanuel Boateng hit the back of the net for LA Galaxy in the MLS. And, Samuel Owusu scored in Serbia and his name sake in Egypt.

Erich Berko was also on target in Germany while midfielder Richard Donkor also found the net in Sweden.

And, Johnathan Opoku Agyemang scored his 13th goal of the season in the Netherlands for promotion chasing VVV Venlo.

Leicester City extolled their title winning credentials with a 4-0 battering of Swansea City at the King Power Stadium. Ghana deputy captain Andre Ayew played the full 90 minutes for Swansea while Jeffrey Schlupp was in action for Leicester but Daniel Amartey was unused by the leaders.

Jordan Ayew played 59 minutes for relegated Aston Villa in their 4-2 home loss against Southampton at the Villa Park on Saturday.

Baba Rahman retained his starting berth in the Chelsea team and lasted the entire period as the Blues hammered Bournemouth 4-1.

In the FA Cup, Dutch-born could-be Ghanaian Timothy Fosu-Mensah played 62 minutes for Manchester United in their 2-1 win over Everton.

In the Championship, Albert Adomah played full throttle for Middlesbrough as the Boro were frustrated to a 0-0 home draw with visiting Ipswich Town.

Dutch-born Elvis Manu failed to make the Brighton and Hove Albion squad for their 3-1 away win over Charlton Athletic.

Koby Arthur failed to make the Birmingham City squad for their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town.

In the League One, former Arsenal goalkeeper Corey Addai warmed the Coventry City bench in their 2-0 loss at Doncaster Rovers.

Tariqe Fosu scored the opening goal for Accrington Stanley in their 3-0 win over York City in the League Two.

Derek Asamoah was introduced in the 87th minute by Carlisle United who won 1-0 at Crawley Town.

Crystal Palace loanee Hiram Boateng played 62 minutes for Plymouth Argle who slipped to a 3-2 home loss against Dagenham & Red.

Elsewhere English-born Andy Yiadom played for Barnet in their 1-1 draw with Mansfield. Nana Kyei was unused by York City.


French-born Dennis Appiah played for ten-man Caen in their 1-1 draw with Guingamp.

Striker Majeed Waris was not in the Lorient team for their 2-0 away loss at St Etienne.

Grejohn Kyei came off the bench to play for Stade de Reims in their 2-0 away loss at OG Nice.

Ghana youth defender Emmanuel Ntim returned from suspension to play for Valenciennes in their 1-1 with ten-man AC Ajaccio.

Elsewhere in the third-tier league, Charles Boateng did not play for Avranches when they managed a 1-1 draw at CA Bastia.

Midfielder Joachim Adukor could not make the Beziers squad for their 3-1 home loss against Chambly.

In the Coupe de la Ligue, Manchester City loanee Yaw Yeboah was not in the Lille squad for their 2-1 loss against Paris Saint-Germain.


Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu assisted the opening goal for Udinese who threw away their lead to succumb to a 3-1 defeat at Inter Milan.

Raman Chibsah was not in the Frosinone team that lost 2-0 against Palermo. Swedish-born Ghanaian Robin Quaison played for Palermo.

Patrick Asmah could not make the Atalanta squad for their slim 1-0 win over Chievo Verona.

Godfred Donsah was unused by Bologna in their 2-0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Sassuolo claimed a 3-1 away win over Torino. Alfred Duncan and Afriyie Acquah both started the game for for Sassuolo and Torino respectively. But young defender Claud Adjapong was unused.

Kwadwo Asamoah was unused by Juventus in their 2-0 win at Fiorentina.

In the Serie B, Bari shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Modena. Prince Emmanuel Besea came off the bench to play for Modena while Inter Milan loanee Isaac Donkor started for Bari but AC Milan loanee Kingsley Boateng was not in the Bari team.

Pescara defeated Brescia 2-1. Ghanaian midfielder Amidu Salifu played the full 90 minutes for Brescia but Ransford Selasi was unused by Pescara.

Moses Odjer was sent off in Salernitana’s 3-1 win over Livorno on Sunday evening.

Nine-man Latina slipped to a 1-0 loss against Virtus Entella. Richmond Boakye-Yiadom came off the bench to play the last 21 minutes for Latina but Maxwell Acosty was not in their squad.

In the third-tier league, former Fiorentina defender Nii Nortey Ashong was unused by Lucchese when they won 2-0 against Tuttocuoio.

There was no Emmanuel Gyasi in the Carrarese team that won 3-1 at Pontedera.

In the Bundesliga II, Christopher Avevor came off the bench to play for Dusseldolf in their 1-1 draw with St Pauli.

Munich 1860 posted a narrow win over Braunschweig. Ghanaian defender Philemon Ofosu-Ayeh was unused by the losers while Joseph Baffo was not in their squad for the game.

In the North America Soccer League, Derek Boateng was in action for Rayo who won 3-2 at Miami FC.
