Pilot limited voters’ registration takes off; turn out low

Piloting of the limited voter registration meant to test the upgraded Biometric Voter Registration Kits (BVR) has taken off.

The exercise which started at 9:00 am will close at 5:00 pm local time, Saturday.

It is being carried out in twenty (20) selected constituencies across the country among which include Kwesimintim, Mpohor (W/R), Cape Coast North, Mfanstiman (C/R), Ho Central, Adaklu (V/R), Ashiaman, Kpone Katamanso (G/R), New Juaben North, and Abuakwa North (E/R).

The rest are Asawase, Ejisu (A/R), Berekum East, Dormaa East (B/A), Yendi, Mion (N/R), Bolgatanga Central, Bongo (Upper East Region), Wa Central, and Nadowli/Kaleo (Upper West Region).Limited 2

Kasapa 102.3 FM News’ correspondents covering the even reports that turn out is very low in almost all the centers.

For instance, Mfum covering the event at the Local Government Hall at Dorma East constituency reports that at 11:00 am, only 12 people had registered.

The Returning Officer of the area, Samuel Boadu, attributed the situation to the lack of education and awareness creation about the exercise.

Baah Acheamfour who is also covering the event at the Jubilee School in the Cape Coast North constituency reports that as 11:00 am local time, only five people had registered while five other people were in the queue.
