The acting President of the Peki tradional area Torgbey Ayim Mordey has denied reports that Chiefs of Peki in the Volta region had endorsed the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo.
He said the Chiefs of his traditional area did not endorse the NPP flagbearer.
It will be recalled that Chiefs in the Peki traditional area in the North Dayi Constituency of the Volta Region reportedly threw their weight behind Nana Akufo-Addo.
This was disclosed when Nana Addo paid a courtesy call on the chiefs in the Peki traditional area at Peki Blengo as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region.
But the Adontenhene of the Peki State and acting President of the Peki Traditional Area who is also the Dufia of Peki Avetile Torgbe Ayim Mordey VI has denied reports that the Chiefs of Peki endorsed Nana Akufo-Addo.
At a durbar of the Chiefs and people of Peki in Avetile as part of the Chief of Staff Mr Julius Debrah’s campaign tour of the Volta Region, the Acting President of the Traditional Area minced no words in denying the claim, stating that “the visit of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party it has been carried on Joy FM online that the Chiefs of Peki endorsed NPP.”
“In fact I want to take this opportunity to let people understand that that was never done. The individual involved in this occasion is going to be called and sanctioned for the misconduct. So I want to make you understand that there was no such endorsement by Peki chiefs,” he said.
